EFCC’s Visit to Dangote Group Hqters Meant to Embarrass Company – Dangote

Aliko Dangote, Africa’s richest man and owner of Dangote Refinery, has revealed that a visit by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to the Lagos headquarters of Dangote Group in January was aimed at embarrassing his company.

In a Monday interview with Bloomberg TV in New York, Dangote revealed that EFCC officials entered his office without engaging with employees or making any arrests.

“They instructed us to return. They planned to visit our office. Before we realized it, they were already there. They came to the office but didn’t engage with anyone or make any arrests. They simply showed up and left, seemingly to cause embarrassment,” Dangote remarked.

Following the visit, the billionaire stressed the company’s commitment to transparency and its important contribution to Nigeria’s economy.

Dangote stated that in 2023, their company pays more taxes than the entire banking sector. He emphasized that this positions them as a key player, whether there’s a new government or any other changes, and that they must maintain impeccable conduct.

He also reassured that the company is fully prepared to cooperate with authorities, providing any necessary documents or information.
