The Lagos State Government has introduced the E-Call Up System to regulate truck movements along the Lekki-Epe corridor. The initiative is aimed at reducing traffic congestion caused by articulated trucks and improving logistics operations in the Lekki Free Trade Zone.
Oluwaseun Osiyemi, the Commissioner for Transportation in Lagos State, made the announcement via a statement on his official X (formerly Twitter) account. Initially scheduled for an August 1, 2024, rollout, the launch of the E-Call Up System was postponed, and the new date for implementation was set for September 23, 2024.
According to the statement, the system is described as a “sustainable, efficient, and technology-driven solution” aimed at enhancing truck scheduling and improving transportation efficiency in the Lekki-Epe area.
“Starting today, September 23, 2024, the Lagos State Government has implemented the E-Call Up System to regulate truck movements in the Lekki-Epe Free Trade Zone corridor. This initiative aims to reduce significant congestion caused by articulated trucks and enhance the effectiveness of logistics operations in the area,” the statement reads.
