The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has issued a renewed warning to skit makers and social media content creators to cease the unauthorized and irresponsible use of the Commission’s official attire. This follows the resurgence of an old video, titled “EFCC and Army Wahala,” which has recently gained traction on social media platforms.
In a statement shared via its official X (formerly Twitter) account and provided to Africa Health Report (AHR) on Monday, the EFCC expressed its displeasure over the video, which parodies its operatives using excessive force on alleged suspects.
“The shameful characterization of supposed operatives of the Commission unleashing terror on ‘suspects’ is not only embarrassing but indicative of a deliberate attempt to cast shadows on the image of the EFCC,” the Commission said.
The EFCC stressed that its officers are professionally trained law enforcement personnel who handle suspects with civility and respect, even when investigating economic and financial crimes.
It further warned content creators to desist from unauthorized portrayals of its operations and avoid spreading misleading depictions.
