The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has unveiled a new digital Central Motor Registry Information System (e-CMR) as part of its extensive e-policing initiative designed to modernize the verification of vehicle documents across Nigerian roads.
In a statement posted on its official X handle, the NPF highlighted that the e-CMR will eliminate the need for officers to physically inspect vehicle papers. The system will allow law enforcement to verify vehicle documentation in real time using advanced technology.
“The new e-CMR system from the NPF eliminates the need for physical documents. You can now conveniently access all your vehicle information digitally—swiftly, easily, and securely,” stated Force Public Relations Officer, Prince Olumuyiwa Adejobi.
Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun is leading an initiative that focuses on boosting road safety and improving the response to vehicle theft. Adejobi mentioned, “If your vehicle is registered with the NPF e-CMR and is stolen, you can quickly report it as stolen through your online account. All field officers across the country will be notified within seconds.”
