NAFDAC Raids Illegal Cosmetic Factory, Seizes Counterfeit Items Worth ₦50m

The National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has taken action against an illegal cosmetic factory operating at Benue Plaza, Trade Fair Complex in Lagos State.

In a statement shared on its official X handle (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, NAFDAC revealed that the factory was shut down following a successful raid that uncovered a range of illicit activities.

During the operation, NAFDAC officials discovered a significant quantity of unregistered chemicals, packaging materials, and expired products that were being fraudulently revalidated for sale.

Over 1,200 cartons of fake cosmetic products, along with various tools used in the manufacturing process, were confiscated by the agency.

The confiscated items, estimated to be worth around ₦50 million, have been securely moved to the NAFDAC office for further investigation, according to the post.

“NAFDAC urges the public to be cautious when purchasing cosmetic products and report any suspicious activities to the nearest NAFDAC office.”
