FG Distributes Relief Assistance to Flood Victims in Abia

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has distributed relief materials to flood victims in five Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Abia State to help mitigate the effects of the disaster.

In a statement posted on its official X handle, NEMA confirmed that the relief efforts were carried out by its Owerri Operations Office. The Director General of NEMA, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, represented by the Head of Operations, Mr. Nnamdi Igwe, led the distribution of the materials, which included rice, garri, beans, vegetable oil, and wax prints.

During the distribution, Mr. Igwe expressed sympathy on behalf of NEMA to the Abia State government and the affected communities. The Executive Secretary of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Mr. Jackson, received the items on behalf of the state government and praised NEMA for its quick response.

“The assistance from the federal government will go a long way in alleviating the suffering caused by the flood,” said Mr. Jackson, thanking both NEMA and the federal government.

The relief materials were distributed to beneficiaries in Umuahia North, Umuahia South, Ikwuano, Isiukwuato, and Umunneochi Local Government Areas.
