NLC President, Ajaero Released on Bail

Arrested Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, President, Comrade Joe Ajaero, was released late Monday by the Department of State Services, DSS just a few minutes to the 12-midnight ultimatum issued by the unionists.

Sources said the embattled Ajaero released on bail around 11.25pm by the DSS a few minutes to the midnight ultimatum.

Ajaero was arrested on Monday morning at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on his way to the United Kingdom for an official assignment.

Activist and former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, Omoyele Sowore, also confirmed his release via a post on X, formerly Twitter, on Monday night.

Also, human rights activist and one of the lawyers of the NLC, Deji Adeyanju, confirmed the release of the labour leader.

Africa Health Report AHR gathered on Monday that pressure from the civil society organisations and rights groups had mounted pressure on the DSS to release the NLC President and issued an ultimatum to that effect. The CSOs threatened to embark on nationwide protest if Ajaero was not released. (With Additional Reports by Agency)
