Police spokesperson, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi on Saturday announced on his X that 20 medical students and other Nigerians were released from captivity in Ntunkon forest, Benue State, on August 23, 2024.
Adejobi clarified that no ransom was paid for their release, despite conflicting reports. “We confirm the release of our brothers and sisters and other Nigerians,” Adejobi stated. “No money was involved; they were rescued tactically and professionally.”
He praised the security agencies, local communities, and the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) for their dedication and resilience in the operation.
