University of Calabar Suspends Post-UTME over Lingering Fuel Crisis, Hardship

The University of Calabar has announced the suspension of its 2024/2025 post-UTME screening due to the ongoing fuel scarcity impacting transportation and logistical arrangements.

The examination, originally set to begin on August 26, will no longer take place as scheduled.

In a public letter dated August 19, 2024, the Registrar of the institution, Gabriel Egbe explained the decision. “The high cost of transportation and accommodation, coupled with current security challenges, have made it untenable to proceed with the screening exercise as planned,”Egbe said.

Candidates who had chosen the University of Calabar as their first choice and had registered online for the post-UTME are instructed to visit the nearest JAMB-CBT center to upload their O’level results.

The university will use these results to evaluate applicants based on a point tally system for the 2024/2025 admission cycle.

The university has extended the registration deadline by one week, now closing on August 31, 2024. “Please note that there will be no further extensions beyond this date, and the registration portal will close definitively on August 31,”Egbe added.

This move aims to address the challenges faced by both candidates and the institution amid the fuel crisis, ensuring a fair and manageable process for all involved.
