The Nigerian military has in recent operations, thwarting oil theft valued at approximately N846 million, Major General Edward Buba, Director, Defence Media Operations DMO, announced Friday.
According to Buba, the Niger Delta operations have been particularly successful. “We have seized 799,400 liters of stolen crude oil and 151,150 liters of illegally refined AGO,” he said. “Additionally, we’ve dismantled numerous illegal refining sites.”
In the past week alone, Nigerian troops neutralized 171 terrorists and arrested 302 suspects involved in various criminal activities. “Our actions also led to the arrest of 25 oil thieves and the rescue of 134 hostages,” Buba added.
The military also recovered 84 assorted weapons, including rifles and ammunition, and seized various vehicles and communication equipment. These efforts underscore the military’s commitment to enhancing security and combating terror threats.
“Our troops remain dedicated to protecting Nigeria and ensuring peace throughout the country,” Buba concluded, highlighting the ongoing commitment to securing the nation’s safety and stability.
