Nigeria’s Crude Oil Production Hits 1.65m/BPD

The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) has reported a significant boost in national crude oil production, reaching 1.658 million barrels per day as of August 14, said the increase reflects the effectiveness of Operation DELTA SANITY in combating crude oil theft.

In a statement released on Friday, Commodore A. Adams-Aliu, Naval Director of Information, commended the operation’s success. “Operation DELTA SANITY is proving highly effective in addressing crude oil theft,” he said. The operation has resulted in the dismantling of numerous illegal refinery sites, refining ovens, and wooden boats used for smuggling.

“August saw several notable achievements, including the destruction of a major refinery site with a daily capacity of 2 million litres, along with various other illegal facilities. Commodore Adams-Aliu noted, “Our efforts have significantly reduced illicit activities and recovered substantial quantities of stolen crude oil and refined products.”

The Nigerian Navy remains committed to enhancing maritime security and boosting oil production, in line with directives from the President and Commander-in-Chief to eradicate oil theft and strengthen the country’s economic stability.
