10 Injured in BRT Bus Accident on Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway

A tragic accident occurred on Friday morning when a fully loaded high-capacity bus (BRT) overturned on its side within the dedicated Bus Rapid Transit lane along the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway near Iyana-Ipaja.

According to the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), the accident happened around 7:45 am and resulted in 10 casualties.

Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene to provide medical assistance and transport the victims to nearby healthcare facilities. The cause of the accident and the condition of the victims are still unknown.

LASTMA, responsible for managing traffic in Lagos State and enforcing traffic laws, confirmed the incident in a post on X, stating that the victims received care. An investigation into the accident is likely to follow.

The X post read, “A fully loaded high-capacity bus fell on its side inside the dedicated lane (BRT lane) with a record of 10 casualties (Victims), which they were taken care of.”
