Tinubu Felicitates Babangida at 83

President Bola Tinubu has congratulated former Nigerian military president, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, on his 83rd birthday, according to a statement released by the presidency.

This congratulatory message was contained in a press statement released by Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President, (Media & Publicity), on Saturday, August 17.

The President saluted General Babangida’s efforts towards developing the nation, particularly in infrastructure, highlighting the completion of the Third Mainland Bridge, which was the longest bridge in Africa at the time.

President Tinubu equally acknowledged General Babangida’s role in shaping modern Nigeria and commended him for his services to the nation. The President wished General Babangida many more years in good health.

The statement read in part: “President Tinubu salutes the former head of state on this special occasion, noting his endeavours towards the development of the nation, especially in infrastructure and otherwise, notably the completion of the Third Mainland Bridge which at the time was the longest bridge in Africa.

“The President acknowledges the role of General Babangida in the sculpting of modern Nigeria, and commends him for his services to the nation.

“President Tinubu wishes the former head of state many more years in good health.”
