FG Reopens Bidding for Lagos-Ibadan Expressway After Rejection

The Federal Government is reopening the bidding for the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Phase 2 after rejecting Julius Berger Plc’s N258 billion proposal.

This decision was revealed following a meeting between Minister of Works David Umahi and Julius Berger representatives at the Ministry’s headquarters in Abuja.

The original project cost, set at N153 billion after switching from asphalt to concrete, clashed with Julius Berger’s bid.

Umahi stated, “We revised the cost to N153 billion, but their offer is N258 billion. We have to determine this contract and will seek BPP’s No Objection for selective tendering.”

New bids will be sought to meet budget and efficiency goals, with the process expected to finish within a month.

The Minister also updated on the Odukpani road project, noting an increase in budget from N54 billion to N90 billion due to a similar switch to concrete, aimed at enhancing durability.
