Shuaibu Alhaji Yushau has been sent for a mental assessment and evaluation after he climbed a high broadband mast and attempted to take his own life.
The incident, which caused concern among the public, occurred at ASO Radio in Katampe, Abuja on July 8.
In a statement issued by the FCT police command spokesperson,SP Josephine Adeh on Wednesday, confirmed that if Yushau is found to be mentally stable, he will face charges for attempted suic!de, disturbance of public peace, and incitement.
Mrs. Adeh, cited sections 231, 111, and 114 of the Penal Code Act.
According to the statement, the commissioner of police, FCT, CP Benneth C. Igweh, has called on residents to remain law-abiding while expressing their concerns.
He emphasised, “The police will not allow the breakdown of law and order.”
It has been revealed that Yushau climbed the mast in protest against the absence of fuel subsidy and the prevailing insecurity in the country. His actions were a desperate attempt to draw attention to these issues.
