An unidentified man made a bold statement on Monday by climbing a mast on Katampe Hill in Abuja, declaring his willingness to sacrifice his life for the betterment of Nigerians.
Leaving a poignant suicide note at the mast’s base, he demanded urgent government intervention to address the challenges facing the nation.
In the note, he expressed his resolve, stating, “I am ready to sacrifice my life for the solution to [Nigeria’s] major problems.”
He called on his fellow Nigerians to unite with him in demanding change, emphasizing key issues that need immediate attention.
Among his demands were the return of fuel subsidy, a state of emergency declaration in states plagued by insecurity, the opening of borders for food importation to combat shortages, and swift action to address the escalating number of out-of-school children.
Emergency response teams, including the Fire Service and the National Emergency Management Agency, were on the scene to manage the situation, according to Channels TV news monitored by Africa Health Report.
This incident echoes a similar protest in 2018 when Nurudeen Lliyasu climbed a mast in Abuja to draw attention to the country’s struggling economy.
