Cholera Outbreak: Benue Records 16 Suspected Cases, Four Deaths in Three LGAs

Benue State has reported sixteen suspected cases of cholera, with four deaths recorded.

The State Epidemiologist, Dr. Henry Ijabo, who revealed the situation on Thursday highlighted that the cases were noticed in Agatu, Otukpo, and Ado local government areas.

Dr. Ijabo explained, “The death in suspected cases is four, mind you, it’s suspected cases. We don’t have confirmed cases in Benue yet. All that we have are suspected cases.”

He further explained, “Out of the 16 suspected cases, four died, they exhibited symptoms that are keeping with cholera but not confirmed.”

The epidemiologist noted that the deaths occurred while investigations were ongoing to confirm the cases.
