NAFDAC Alerts Public on Unregistered Drug B-GAG Healthy Medicine

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has issued an alert regarding the unauthorised production and sale of an unregistered drug named B-GAG Healthy Medicine with batch number 0070.

NAFDAC discovered the product during surveillance activities in Maiduguri, Borno State, and Keffi, Nasarawa State.

The agency emphasized that the medicine by Babban Agalawa General Enterprises has not been approved and lacks an assigned registration number, posing potential health risks to consumers.

In a statement, NAFDAC urged consumers to exercise caution and avoid using the unregistered medicine. “Consumers and caregivers are hereby advised to exercise caution and vigilance to avoid the use of the product. All medical products must be obtained from authorised/licensed suppliers.

“The products’ authenticity and physical condition should be carefully checked. Healthcare professionals and consumers are advised to report any suspicion of the sale of substandard and falsified medicines or medical devices to the nearest NAFDAC office,”NAFDAC noted in the statement.

Also, NAFDAC recently issued an alert on a falsified batch of Giga-S injection in Aba, Abia State

The agency warned that the product, purchased from a store in Ariara Market, is indicated for treating severe infections and must be removed from circulation to prevent harm to patients.
