The the Development Specs Academy (DSA), in collaboration with Nigerian Army Resource Centre (NARC) has canvassed a holistic approach to tackle the escalating rate of insecurity across the country. The security experts and stakeholders made the recommendation on Friday in Abuja, while briefing journalists about an upcoming RoundTable which aims at finding enduring solutions to the insecurity in the country.
The planned RoundTable which holds between Monday, June 24 and Tuesday, June 25 2024, is titled: Asymmetrical National Security Challenges, the Army and National development”.
Speaking on the coming event, Professor Okey Ikechukwu said, it is organized as part of a series of public engagements designed to strengthen public awareness about the planned RoundTable.
Ikechukwu, convener of the RoundTable, also noted that Strategic Partners which include, the Nigerian Institute of Public relations (NIPR), the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), the Voice of Nigeria (VON), the News agency of Nigerian (NAN), the Institute for Strategic Development Communication (ISDEVCOM), Nnamdi Azikiwe Business School (IBS), and the National Drug law enforcement Agency (NDLEA), and the Institute for Peace, Security and Development Studies (IPSDS), have endorsed the event.
“The essence of drawing special attention to our Strategic Partners in this Press Briefing is to emphasize the roles and relevance of credible and highly regarded professional bodies, institutes and institutions, as well as agencies of government that are headed by professional in public communication, professional information management and the media. We went round and consulted with all of them, in the process of preparing for the RoundTable”, he stated.
Essence of the RoundTable
This Roundtable is designed as a Third-Party initiative, to distil and present Implementable Action Points (IAPs) on pressing asymmetrical national security challe nges. These are security challenges that do not take the simple form of easily-identified, routinely compartmentalized, properly isolated and unilaterally targetable problems.
Notable among the experts in attendance of the press conference is the Director General, Nigerian Army Resource Centre, Major-General Garba Wahab (RTD), President of NIPR, etc.
