Tragedy struck in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State capital on Tuesday, as gunmen shot dead a ticket collector around Oke Isa Roundabout of the town.
The man, who was said to be one of those issuing tickets to commercial motorcyclists around Okesa Roundabout, was reportedly fired upon by unknown assailants who came with another motorcycle and ran away after perpetrating the act.
When contacted, Chairman of the Okada Riders Association, Ekiti State, Mr Kunle Asaolu, confirmed the incident. He said that the man was one of those working with the association.
The attack was also confirmed by the spokesperson for Ekiti State Police Command, DSP Sunday Abutu, who said an investigation had commenced immediately the case was reported.
The corpse has been deposited at the Ekiti State Teaching Hospital morgue.
