10 Nigerian Teenage Girls Rescued from Ghana Trafficking

The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCom) has confirmed the safe return of ten Nigerian teenage girls who were allegedly trafficked to Ghana for prostitution.
The Commission’s chairman, Dabiri-Erewa, revealed that the rescued girls, all under 18, arrived in Lagos and were profiled by officials from the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP).
According to Dabiri-Erewa, the girls, mostly from Imo State, were accompanied by representatives of the Imo State government, including the Deputy Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly, the Imo State Commissioner for Women Affairs, and NiDCom staff.
The girls were reportedly lured to Ghana by an unidentified man, who authorities have since apprehended in a neighbouring West African country.
Dabiri-Erewa noted the importance of collaboration in combating human trafficking, stating, “This successful rescue operation highlights the need for continued cooperation between government agencies and international partners to protect vulnerable individuals from exploitation.”
