Corruption: NIS Officer Bags 7 Years Jail for Passport Fraud

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences (ICPC) has convicted an officer of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Mr. Quadri Ismail Adeyinka for alleged passport fraud.

This was confirmed in a statement on Sunday by the ICPC’s spokesperson, Demola Bakare.

Adeyinka was arrested by the ICPC  and  brought before Justice Jude Onwuegbuzie in a Federal Court sitting in Apo, Abuja, on four-counts bordering on gratification, conferment of corrupt advantage and cheating contrary to ordinance of the  ICPC Act 2000 and penal Code Act.

Counsel to the ICPC during the trial listed evidence showing the arraigned was involved in corrupt practices and this included, collection of N100,000.00  from Ojeffia to regularise the said passport.

Justice Jude Onwuegbuzie found Adeyinka guilty on all four counts  charges and sentenced him to seven years each for count 1 and 2, 5 years four count 4 and 2 years for count 3.
