According to the latest report from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), the average retail price per litre of Household Kerosene (HHK) witnessed a notable increase in April 2024, reaching N1,439.64. This marks a significant rise of 6.29% compared to the previous month’s average of N1,354.40.
Year-on-year, the increase stands at 24.04%, reflecting a steady upward trend in prices since April 2023.
State-specific analysis shows that Benue topped the list with the highest average price per litre of HHK at N1,788.47, followed closely by Kaduna and Plateau. Conversely, Katsina recorded the lowest price per litre, followed by Jigawa and Kwara.
Regionally, the North Central region registered the highest average retail price per litre of Household Kerosene, followed by the South-West and the South-East, which recorded the lowest average price.
In terms of gallons, the average retail price surged to N5,174.23 in April 2024, representing a 5.61% increase from the previous month and a 24.17% increase from April 2023. Kano led the states with the highest average retail price per gallon, while Kwara recorded the lowest.
Zone analysis revealed the North-East as the region with the highest average retail price per gallon, followed by the North West, while the North-Central recorded the lowest.
