Ex- EFCC Chairman Ibrahim Lamorde Dies at 61 in Egypt

Ibrahim Lamorde, ex-chairman of the EFCC, has unfortunately passed away at 61 while in Egypt for medical reasons.

The EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, expressed shock and sadness at the sudden news of his death in a statement made available to Africa’s health report (AHR),On Sunday.

His absence will be deeply felt at both the EFCC and throughout the nation. The Commission hopes for his soul to rest in peace and for his family, the EFCC, and the entire nation to find comfort,” Oyewale said.

Lamorde started his career in the Nigeria Police Force in 1986 and was appointed as the first director of operations when the EFCC was established in 2003.

He briefly took on the role of acting chairman in January 2008 until Farida Waziri was appointed as the chairperson later that year.

Lamorde took over as the director of operations at the EFCC in 2010, succeeding Stephen Otitoju. He later served as the acting chairman from November 23, 2011, until November 9, 2015, when Ibrahim Magu was appointed by former President Muhammadu Buhari to replace him.
