Nigeria has been ranked as the 6th highest country globally in terms of abortion rates, with 33 abortions per 1,000 women aged 15 to 44, according to the World Abortion Policies report by the United Nations through World Population Review.
This places Nigeria among countries like Vietnam, Cuba, and India, surpassing even Argentina and Brazil in the number of abortions performed.
Despite Nigeria being categorised under the second category of abortion laws, the high abortion rate persists.
In contrast, Algeria has the lowest abortion rate globally at 0.4, followed by Austria at 1.3 and Croatia at 2.7.
