JUST IN: Prince Harry, Wife, Meghan Markle Kick Off Invictus Games- 72-Hour Tour in Nigeria

Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle have commenced their 72-hour tour in Nigeria, which is focusing on promoting the Invictus Games.

Their activities upon arrival as monitored by our correspondent in Abuja, the royal couple’s journey began with a slightly delayed British Airways overnight flight to Abuja, where they were warmly received by Nigerian officials at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport early Friday morning.

According to Nigeria Defence Headquarters’ spokesman, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, their first engagement is scheduled for midday at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja, followed by a visit to wounded soldiers at a military hospital in Kaduna. The couple will then return to Abuja for additional engagements.

The Duchess of Sussex’s recent revelation about her Nigerian heritage adds significance to their visit. She shared, “I’m going to start to dig deeper into all this because anybody that I’ve told, especially Nigerian women, are like ‘What!’ This is huge for our community.”

Their itinerary includes various events such as visiting a school, meeting injured service members, attending a training session for the charity organization Nigeria: Unconquered, and co-hosting an event on Women in Leadership with Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director-General of the World Trade Organization.

Additionally, the couple is set to attend a basketball clinic with Giants of Africa, participate in a cultural reception, and support a polo fundraiser for Nigeria: Unconquered.

The visit underscores Harry and Meghan’s commitment to promoting the Invictus Games and strengthening ties with Nigeria, following Harry’s encounter with the Nigerian team at last year’s competition in Germany.
