CCPT Issues Ruling Against Planned Price Increases in DSTV, GOTV Services

The Competition and Consumers Protection Tribunal (CCPT) had issued a ruling preventing Multi- Choice Nigeria Limited from implementing its planned hike in its subscription packages come May 1

African Health Report (AHR) reported last week that the company reviewed prices in its packages across the board which will take effect from May 1, 2024, the premium package will increase from N29000 to N37000 and at least which is the Xtraview from N4000 to N5000.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Onifade, in the suit marked: CCPT/OP/2/2024, had dragged Multi-Choice Nigeria Ltd and Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) before a three member tribunal presided by Saratu Shafi which has issue a restraint from step negatively that will affect the right of consumers.

“The 1st defendant is hereby restrained from taking any step(s) that may negatively affect the rights of the claimant and other consumers in respect of the suit pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice”. Shafi said.
