Lagos Shuts Down Churches, Hotels, Others over Noise Pollution

In a bid to tackle noise pollution and uphold environmental standards, the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has taken decisive action, closing several organisations in the state. The Agency conducted enforcement operations in key areas including lfako-Ijaiye, Abule-Egba, Alagbado, Command, Abesan Estate, and Dopemu, several establishments have been temporarily closed down.

According to a statement released by the Commissioner for the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab,  on Friday, LASEPA has targeted a range of establishments, from churches to bars and hotels, in its crackdown on noise pollution.

Affected establishments include the Catholic Church, Seventh Heaven Bar and  Lounge, 1602 Hotel, Lourita Hotel and Suites, Wonderful Bible Prayer Ministries, God’s Porch Ministries, White Pavilion Hotel, Quest Hotel and  Suites, Honey Comb Confectioners Ltd, and Excel Hotel and  Suite. These closures serve as a firm reminder of the importance of compliance with environmental regulations.

LASEPA has underlined the significance of businesses adhering to environmental standards, signaling a commitment to maintaining a healthy and sustainable environment in Lagos State.
