The Lead British International School, Abuja, has been ordered shut down for three days by the Nigerian government in response to a case of physical bullying involving two students, on Tuesday.
Namtira Bwala, was assaulted by her classmate, Maryam Hassan, prompting widespread outrage after videos of the incident went viral.
The Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, announced the closure following public outcry.
In the videos, Namtira was repeatedly slapped by Maryam, who interrogated her about a perceived betrayal.
Nigerians have called for justice for the victim, prompting the school to launch an investigation into the matter.
Additionally, some parents confronted the school, with one of the victim’s relatives reportedly slapping the bully involved.
