Dangote Petroleum Refinery has once more made a significant move by cutting down the prices of diesel and aviation fuel to N940 and N980 per litre, respectively.
This latest reduction follows the celebrated previous price cut to N1,000 only a fortnight ago.
The adjustment to N940 primarily applies to clients purchasing five million litres and above from the refinery, while the rate of N970 is available for customers procuring one million litres and more. The Head of Communication, Mr Anthony Chiejina, emphasised the company’s dedication to alleviating economic hardships in Nigeria through this development.
In an official statement on Tuesday, Mr Chiejina elaborated on a strategic partnership between Dangote Petroleum Refinery and MRS Oil and Gas stations, which enables consumers to access diesel for as low as N1,050 and aviation fuel at N980, across all significant airports where MRS operates. Adding that the partnership is expected to extend to other leading oil marketers, ensuring fair pricing for retail customers.
Expressing the Group’s commitment to improving the welfare of Nigerians, the statement highlighted the significance of these new prices in mitigating economic challenges. Stated, “The Dangote Group is committed to ensuring that Nigerians have better welfare and as such, we are happy to announce these new prices and hope that it would go a long way to cushion the effect of economic challenges in the country,” the statement read in part.
Previously, the refinery had reduced diesel prices from N1,700 to N1,200 before further lowering it to N1,000, and now to the current N940, along with setting aviation fuel prices at N980 per litre.
Nigerian President Bola Tinubu lauded Mr Dangote for the initial price slash as an enterprising feat.
Also, Mr Ajayi Kadiri, the Director General of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, hailed Dangote Refinery for its successive price reductions, noting its positive impact on the local economy.
Kadiri emphasised the potential ripple effects of this move, foreseeing a transformation in energy costs across various sectors like industrial operations, transportation, logistics, and agriculture.
