NDLEA Warns Travellers Against Accepting Luggage from Unknown Sources

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has issued a stern warning to travellers, advising against accepting luggage from individuals without prior knowledge of its contents.

The warning was issued on Sunday by Femi Babafemi, the agency’s Director of Media and Advocacy, using his X handle.

This caution follows an incident where two students, one of whom was pursuing a PhD, found themselves in trouble after bottles of codeine syrup were discovered in luggage they were carrying for a friend studying abroad.

According to Babafemi, the students narrowly avoided jail time thanks to the intervention of the NDLEA.

He emphasized the importance of vigilance, stating, “Reason why we warn you not to take any luggage you don’t know its content from anyone.”

In a recent development, Babafemi shared a video revealing how bags of opioids were concealed among spare parts in transit from Onitsha to Mubi in Adamawa.

This serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and the necessity for travellers to remain cautious and informed about the contents of their belongings.
