JUST IN: FG Unveils New Card Payments System by National ID -NIMC

The Federal Government has unveiled a new system of making social and financial payments in the country.

With this, settlements of bills for goods and services can now be done via the new national identity cards. According to a statement, the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has collaborated with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and Nigeria Inter-bank Settlement System (NIBSS) to make social and financial payments to be powered by AgriGO, a National domestic card Scheme.

The statement was issued by NIMC on Friday and signed by the Head of Corporate Commission, Kayode  Adegoke.

The National Identity cards was introduced by NIMC which was backed by No.23 Act 2007, will now have multiple functionalities not only to prove to prove the identity of the card holder,  access government, private school services as well as facilitate financial inclusion for disenfranchised Nigerians , empower citizens and increase participation in the nation’s building.

NIMC says only legal residents will have access to the new National Identity cards with major key features and implores and more information of this card is made available on their website (www.nimc,govt.ng).
