DHQ Seeks Cooperation in Capture of Wanted Killers of Soldiers, says Military Reports Success in Anti-Terror Operations

The Military high command has issued a public appeal for assistance in capturing the remaining seven wanted killers of its 17 soldiers in the Okuoma community of Delta state.

Major General Erdward Buba, the Director Defence Media Operations, made the appeal while providing updates on the first quarter operational activities conducted by the armed forces of Nigeria in collaboration with other security agencies across the country.

Buba, who confirmed the self surrender of one of the wanted persons in connection of the killing, emphasised the importance of public cooperation in bringing the perpetrators to justice, stating, “One of the wanted persons, a traditional ruler submitted himself and we wish that others will do the same. We urge the general public to make available to the command any information regarding the remaining seven wanted killers. Your support is crucial in ensuring that these individuals are apprehended and brought to justice.”

In addition to the call for public assistance, Gen. Buba highlighted the significant achievements of the military in its operations between January to March 2024. He reported that troops deployed in the Niger Delta region successfully denied oil thieves access to vital economic infrastructure, resulting in the recovery of over 20 billion Naira worth of stolen oil.

Furthermore, Gen. Buba provided details on the military’s success in anti-terror operations, stating, “Our attacks and offensive actions in this first quarter of 2024 have resulted in 2,351 terrorists neutralized, 2,308 persons arrested, and 1,241 kidnapped hostages rescued. Additionally, troops recovered 2,847 weapons and over 58,000 assorted ammunition, further disrupting the activities of terrorists across multiple regions.”

The Director DMO, also highlighted the recovery of stolen crude oil and illegally refined petroleum products, underscoring the military’s commitment to combating economic sabotage and criminal activities in the country.
