Economic Hardship: 5% Tax will Create Additional Burden on Parents, School Owners in FCT- NAPPS

National Association Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS) has decried that 5% tax imposed annually in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) schools in January.

The chairperson of the association, Mrs Rukayat Agboola in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday in Abuja explained that the tax create an additional burden on parents and school owners.

“The tax will also create an additional burden on parents and school owners.

“The secretariat could not even be bothered about parents’ ability to pay tuition fees. It is interesting only in using school enrollment to determine payable taxes.

“If the secretariat becomes insistent on the tax, we shall continue to resist it, otherwise, many private schools will run out of business”.
