The Renaissance Assembly, a group based in Delta State, has called on the Chief of Army Staff, Lt General Taoheed Lagbaja, to intensify the search for Endurance Okodeh, also known as Amangbein, the prime suspect in the murder of four army officers and twelve soldiers in Okuama town.
In an open letter to the military leadership, the group expressed their condolences for the tragic loss of the personnel and urged the military to focus their efforts on the Bayelsa State Government House in Yenagoa, where they believe Amangbein is hiding.
According to the President of the Renaissance Assembly, Austin Esiri, “All evidence points to Amangbein as the culprit and suggests that he is hiding in Bayelsa State’s Government House.” The group accuses Amangbein of being involved in crude oil bunkering and alleges that he has had confrontations with the military in the region.
They also claim that Amangbein and his gang are allies of Governor Douye Diri and have been protected by him. Also suggest investigating Amangbein’s siblings and other individuals connected to him for leads to his whereabouts.
The group emphasised the importance of adhering to the Geneva Convention and avoiding reprisals on innocent communities, while urging the military to extend their search beyond the Gbomotoru Community and concentrate on the Bayelsa Government House. They concluded the letter with a plea for justice to be served for the fallen soldiers.
