Military Denies Reprisal Attacks over Okuama Community Tragedy

In a tragic turn of events, the Nigerian military has denied claims of engaging in reprisal attacks in Okuama Community, following an incident that left several soldiers dead.

The Defence Headquarters in a statement made available to Africa Health Report on Monday stated that the community had already been deserted before their arrival, debunking any notions of retaliation.

The military is now urging those spreading misinformation and fake news to cease dishonoring the fallen heroes.

Instead, they call upon community leaders and the people of Delta State to assist in the investigation to identify the culprits behind the appalling act.

“Notably, the ongoing dispute between Okuama and Okoloba communities remains unresolved, suggesting the possibility of untoward activities unrelated to the military.

“This is an extremely sad development and untoward activity by members of the Okuama community against troops that were there to protect them,” expressed the Defense Headquarters.

They also implore the public to refrain from circulating videos of the incident, as it would dishonor the fallen heroes.
