NDLEA Uncovers Drugs Hidden in Vehicle Parts, Raises Concerns over Traffickers’ Desperation

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has made a startling discovery of drugs concealed within the engine compartments and tyre tubes of commercial vehicles.

Femi Babafemi, the Director of Media and Advocacy at NDLEA, took to his X account to share this alarming information, accompanied by a video showcasing the intercepted contraband.

Expressing his concern over the escalating desperation of drug traffickers, Babafemi questioned whether passengers should now inspect vehicle components before boarding.

He shared videos with the caption, “Narco-trend update: The desperation by drug traffickers is appalling. So, should passengers start searching the engine compartment and tyre tubes of commercial vehicles before they board now? These videos provide some insight into why #ndlea_nigeria officers are on the highway.”

In the video, a driver named Torliam Sursghen, hailing from Benue state and boarding from Lagos, confessed to being given the waybill by an undisclosed individual.

This discovery sheds light on the increasing sophistication of drug trafficking methods and the challenges faced by law enforcement agencies in combating this illicit trade.
