The 2023 Labor Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has asked President Bola Tinubu to explore all possible avenues to ensure the safe release of over 200 school children and their teachers abducted by terrorists in Kaduna State.
Obi said this in a series of messages on his X handle on Friday, reacting to the recent abduction of about 200 school children and their teachers in Kuriga, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
It was gathered that the victims, including the headmaster and other staff, were abducted from LGEA Primary School in Kuriga on Thursday morning.
The incident was confirmed by former Kaduna Senator Shehu Sani in a message on his X platform on Thursday, noting that the incident happened in the same village where a school principal, Idris Sufyan, was killed and his wife kidnapped over a month ago.
Reacting to the incident, Obi called on President Tinubu to improve the country’s security measures as terrorist attacks on schools across the country add to insecurity and the number of out-of-school children, which he stated is already over 18 million.
