To alleviate the hardship faced by its citizens, the Jigawa government has set a target to feed 5,157,000 people throughout the month of Ramadan.
Governor Umar Namadi made this announcement during the flag-off ceremony for the distribution of palliatives to the residents of Dutse, Jigawa to feed 171,900 people every day during Ramadan.
“To achieve this target, the state government has established two centers in each electoral ward, making a total of 573 centres.
“Each center is expected to provide meals to at least 300 people daily, totaling 171,900 people per day. Also, the feeding program aims to include thousands of households, reaching beyond the ordinary people at the public centres.”
Namadi emphasised that the feeding program was specifically designed to assist the needy during the fasting period.
He also assured the citizens of Jigawa that his administration is committed to ensuring their well-being, particularly in the face of the prevailing hardship in the country.
In addition to the feeding program, the governor promised to facilitate the distribution of another set of palliatives promised by President Bola Tinibu to the people of Jigawa.
Earlier, the state Commissioner for Special Duties, Auwalu Sankara, revealed that a total of 150,000 bags of 25kg of rice, 150,000 bags of 25kg of maize, and 100,000 cartons of spaghetti will be distributed to 150,000 households.
This allocation is expected to benefit approximately 700,000 individuals across the 27 Local Government Areas of the state, with each household comprising five beneficiaries.
