Edo State has been ranked bottom in a recently released report on ‘Ease of Doing Business’ among Nigerian states ranking published by StatiSence.
According to the findings released on Wednesday, Edo state ranked 37th out of 37 states and the FCT, scoring only 4.55 out of 10.
The report is based on data collected by the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) in a survey conducted in June 2023.
It evaluates states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) across six key indicators aimed at assessing the friendliness of the business environment.
These indicators include infrastructure, security, transparency, regulatory environment, skills and labor, and economic opportunities.
Comparatively, Edo State’s performance has declined since the previous report, where it was ranked 34th in 2021 with a score of 4.38.
The current ranking indicates a worsening situation for businesses operating within the state, with challenges persisting across all evaluated criteria.
