Lasa Fever Outbreak: Adamawa Confirms One in NYSC Camp, Cautions over Cases Under Watch

A suspected Lassa fever case is presently being monitored in Adamawa State at some stage in the outbreak, officials said.

This followed Government Notification No. 039 on an outbreak of a notably contagious disease at a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp on Friday.

It was lately pronounced that the Adamawa State Ministry of Health and Human Services has demonstrated the outbreak.

The Health and Human Services Commissioner, Felix Tangwami, announced at a press conference on Monday that solely one out of five samples tested at the National Reference Laboratory tested tremendous for Lassa fever.

However, he disclosed that the roommate of the index case, who was once also hospitalized, will be rechecked for the disease.

Tangwami verified that a fast response crew has been activated to stop the spread of the epidemic throughout the state.

“At this point, I ask the public to remain calm, watch the health workers, and suggestions and file any Lassa fever-like symptoms immediately, Tangwami said
