Rights activist, Comrade Israel Joe has been detained by the Police in Delta state. The activist who was accused of orchestrating a protest against economic difficulties and high living expenses in the state, was handed over to the police who and charged with terrorism. He was apprehended by soldiers at the demonstration in Delta State on Friday.
He was then turned over to the authorities who intend to press charges for terrorism, citing his alleged involvement in organizing a protest against the tough living conditions and high expenses in the state.
A youth group had scheduled Friday, February 23rd, for demonstrating against the increased hardship and inflation in the country attributed to President Bola Tinubu’s economic strategies.
The demonstration was supposed to start at 7.00 am at Dsc Roundabout in Warri but security forces arrived early to scare the locals. Additionally, security has been increased around Effurun Roundabout and Enerhen Junction in Warri. previously it was reported that the police requested Delta activist Israel Joe to come in for questioning regarding the upcoming protest.
