Niger Residents Protest Over High Cost of Living

Residents of Niger State have protested over the high cost of Living in Minna, the State Capital.

This is according to a video going around the social media on Monday, youths, and women are seen protesting over the high cost of living in the State.

The protesters also blocked major roads within the capital.

In the video, they are expressing their pain over the rising cost of food items and the poor government effort to arrest the situation, which, according to them, has forced them to block major roads so the government will hear their cry.

This comes after, women in Kano state on February 2, 2024, also Protest over the high cost of living, women carrying placards with different inscriptions protesting the hike in the cost of flour, and living conditions in Kano.

Hundreds of women, including local bread producers known as “Gurasa”, marched through the streets of Kano ancient city on Friday to protest the high cost of living.

The city’s residents were particularly protesting the increase in the price of flour, which is used mostly in the making of the staple food.

The majority of the protesters, including children, were chanting, “Everything is expensive, especially flour, grains, Tinubu come to our aid, we cannot feed our families, most of us are widows and people are dying of hunger”.
