Bad Roads Fueling Kidnapping in FCT – Wike

The minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has attributed bad roads to the incessant increase in kidnapping in the territory.

Wike said this on Tuesday at a town hall meeting with stakeholders and residents of Kwali Area Council in Kwali town.

During the meeting, Wike asked council chairmen to recommend additional roads for reconstruction to address the problem.

He also promised that the government would not abandon the people of FCT and would involve traditional rulers and citizens in budget planning, ensuring their infrastructure needs are included.

Wike assured the public that the area councils would develop significant infrastructure before the tenure ends.

His words: “We will not abandon you. We will make sure we develop the area councils. Before the end of the tenure of President Tinubu, you will see a lot of infrastructure going on in the area councils.

“Every year before we submit our budget to the NASS, we will come to you the traditional rulers and the people to ask you what your infrastructure needs are so that we can include them in the budget. We will not abandon any project. If we do not have the money, we will not embark on any project,” he declared.

He further directed the chairmen of the six Area Councils to enhance local vigilance teams’ capabilities, as part of the efforts to combat criminal activities pledged swift deployment of vehicles and requested the councils to provide more motorcycles to the vigilance teams.

He reiterated the government’s commitment to bringing an end to criminal activities in the territory and pledged to ensure a swift deployment of the vehicles, also requested the councils to provide more motorcycles to the vigilance teams.
