Electricity consumers in Gombe, as well as parts of Yola and Bauchi states, should be prepared for power outages on Thursday and Friday due to scheduled maintenance of power facilities by the Transmission Company of Nigeria.
In a statement issued by the TCN General Manager of Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, it was revealed that the maintenance crew would be performing preventive maintenance on the bay of the T1A 150 MVA, 330/132/33kV transformer maintenance which is expected to last for eight hours each day, from 9 am to 5 pm.
Mbah stated that during the maintenance exercise, the TCN will transfer the load from the T1A transformer to the T2A transformer in the same substation. Stating, “This will result in an interruption of bulk power supply to the Jos and Yola Distribution Companies (DisCos) through the T1A transformer.”
However, Mbah clarified that the interruption would only affect supply during the transfer period, not for the entire duration of the maintenance exercise.
The power outages will primarily impact Gombe and certain areas in Yola and Bauchi states. The TCN assures consumers that the bulk power supply through the transformer will be restored immediately after the maintenance exercise is completed.
The TCN has recently been conducting scheduled preventive maintenance infrastructure. Just days ago, the Jos-Lafia 330kV transmission lines underwent maintenance work after being inactive for an extended period.
The TCN regrets any inconvenience caused to electricity consumers in the affected areas and assures them that the maintenance work is necessary to improve the reliability and stability of the power supply.
