The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has revealed that it received a staggering total of 752 complaints of human rights abuse in Plateau between January and November 2023.

Veronica Abe, the NHRC Coordinator in the state, disclosed this alarming statistic on Monday in Jos.

Abe stated that the reported cases covered a wide range of human rights violations, including unlawful detention, extrajudicial killings, inhuman treatment, domestic violence, and child abuse.

She also noted that other reported abuses involved child abandonment, rape, denial of inheritance, and forced marriage.

In light of these disturbing figures, the NHRC coordinator assured that the pending cases would be addressed promptly and effectively.

She also urged residents of Plateau to report any cases of abuse to the appropriate authorities, emphasising the need for swift action to protect the rights and well-being of individuals in the state.
