Amnesty International has revealed that at least 368 individuals lost their lives in a series of attacks between December 2023 and January 1, 2024, contradicting the claims made by Tinubu’s Administration regarding security progress.

The human rights organization provided a detailed breakdown of the casualties, with the highest death toll of 194 recorded in Plateau State between December 23rd and 25th. Other tragic incidents include 142 deaths in Kaduna State on December 3rd, 12 deaths in Sokoto on December 12th, eight lives taken in Katsina on December 24th, and 12 individuals killed in Chibok, Borno state, on January 1st.

President Tinubu has condemned the attacks, particularly the Christmas Eve killings in Plateau State, and has ordered the provision of relief materials for the affected families. However, there are calls for swift apprehension and prosecution of the culprits involved in these incidents.

The international community, including the United Nations, France, and the United States of America, has strongly condemned the attacks and urged President Tinubu to ensure that those responsible face justice.

The situation has sparked nationwide discussions and highlighted the urgent need for strengthened security measures and the protection of innocent lives in Nigeria.
