Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has announced seven days of mourning following a devastating coordinated attack in Bokkos and Barkin Ladin.

According to a report by the Red Cross, the assault resulted in approximately 301 people being injured and 27 houses being set on fire.

Mutfwang conveyed his declaration of mourning via his official page on X on Tuesday, stating that the state flag would be flown at half-mast during this time to honour the memory of the deceased.

He wrote:  “As a mark of honour for the memory of the deceased, I wish to declare a week of mourning from January 1st to January 8th, 2024.

“During this period of mourning, flags will fly at half-mast,” the Governor expressed.

He urged citizens to utilize these days for fervent prayers, seeking the intervention of the Almighty God in safeguarding their territories from the nefarious individuals who have posed a threat to their safety.
