The family of Nollywood actor, John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, has dismissed claims that his second leg has been amputated.
This is coming after the National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Dr. Emeka Rollas, said Mr Ibu “hardly talks again and he has undergone another leg amputation.”
One of the actor’s legs was amputated on November 6, after several failed surgeries to save it.
Rollas’ statement spread on social media, with various reports that the actor’s condition had worsened to the point that he could barely speak and had to undergo another surgery.
But in a statement posted on his official Instagram page on Saturday, the actor’s family debunked the rumours, saying it was the same leg that was earlier amputated that was worked on again.
A family member of the actor, Valentine Okafor, explained that Mr Ibu was suffering from Diabetes complications which causes his blood to clot, thereby posing a high risk to his health.
The family assured that he was getting the best services in a good hospital in Nigeria as his doctors have put him on a not fit to fly status.
