Distinguished speakers and experts from relevant fields will convene at the prestigious Transcorp Hotel in Abuja from March 6 to 9, 2024, to discuss ways to boost local vaccine production and address challenges impeding Africa’s biotechnology capabilities.
The event will be hosted by the National Institute for Pharmaceutical Research and Development (NIPRD).
The highly anticipated international conference with the theme, “Local Vaccine Manufacturing: Building Africa’s Capacity for Research, Development, and Novel Biotechnologies,” aims to tackle the critical issue of vaccine production within the continent.
The keynote address will be delivered by the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Muhammed Ali Pate. The Minister of State for Health, Dr. Tunji Alausa, will serve as the chief host.
Director-General of NIPRD, Dr. Obi Adigwe, expressed enthusiasm for the conference, which is one of the agency’s effort to advance healthcare in Nigeria by taking proactive steps to address public health challenges.
The three-day conference will feature plenary sessions, panel discussions, and interactive workshops covering diverse topics, including vaccine production technology, intellectual property rights, regulatory frameworks, and funding mechanisms.
Policymakers, scientists, researchers and industry experts will also make contributions that will drive the development and production of vaccines within Africa.
